A little about ourselves
The Hamilton Community Gospel Choir (HCGC) is an interdenominational choir of all ages, made up of people who love to sing gospel style and present the love of Jesus Christ through song.
The choir is dedicated to presenting the music of God to the people of Hamilton and Aotearoa (New Zealand) and overseas, as opportunities allow. We welcome every opportunity to entertain and inspire our community with a contemporary range of music, mostly in the gospel style, along with providing a place for local songwriters and soloists to bring their music to the stage.
The choir ranges between 35 to 50 singers and members are passionate about what they do, volunteering their time, energy and talent for the benefit and enjoyment of the wider community.
The choir is run by a trust board of volunteers and is led by Sue Shepherd (Musical Director) who receives a monthly stipend for the additional responsibilities and time commitment she contributes.
People in the choir have made lifelong friends and consider choir members part of their extended family.
We had a great road trip to Palmerston North for the 'Now & Then' Voice and Brass Concert in September and enjoyed our evening singing at the Waikato Hospital. Our next big event is our Annual Concert on 21 November at Hamilton Central Baptist Church ...see event details here.
