A little about ourselves
The Hamilton Community Gospel Choir (HCGC) based in Hamilton, New Zealand is an interdenominational choir of all ages, made up of people who love to sing gospel style and present the love of Jesus Christ through song.
The choir is dedicated to presenting the music of God to the people of Hamilton and Aotearoa (New Zealand) and overseas, as opportunities allow. We welcome every opportunity to entertain and inspire our community with a contemporary range of music, mostly in the gospel style, along with providing a place for local songwriters and soloists to bring their music to the stage.
The choir ranges between 35 to 50 singers and members are passionate about what they do, volunteering their time, energy and talent for the benefit and enjoyment of the wider community.
The choir is run by a trust board of volunteers and is led by Sue Shepherd (Musical Director) who receives a monthly stipend for the additional responsibilities and time commitment she contributes.
People in the choir have made lifelong friends and consider choir members part of their extended family.
We had a fantastic time at our Annual and Christmas Concert "His Name Will Shine" on 21 November 2015 at Hamilton Central Baptist Church... see our Facebook page for photos.
We also had a busy season of Christmas events including the Hamilton Christmas Tree Lighting Concert, singing in Westfield Chartwell, and in the Waikato Hospital Atrium and caroling in the wards. Unfortunately the Christmas event in Te Puke was cancelled due to bad weather.
We are looking forward to commencing the 2016 year with our first practice on Tuesday 2nd February...Contact us if you are interested in joining the choir or you would like to request a performance.
